Readers Fest 2026 – State Level Inter-Collegiate Meet

 





    The Department of Library, G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti, successfully organized the “Readers Fest – State Level Inter-Collegiate Meet” on 06 February 2026 with the objective of promoting reading habits, creativity, and intellectual skills among students.

    The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 11 colleges across the state. Students actively competed in a variety of intellectually stimulating and creative events such as Bookmark Creation, Dumb Charades, Word Game, Author Spotter, Remembrance Test, Creative Story Writing, and Book Review.

    The programme was meticulously planned and executed under the guidance of the college administration and the Library Department faculty. The competitions provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their literary talent, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills.

    After a series of closely contested events, Aruppukottai Saiva Bhanu Kshatriya College emerged as the Overall Champion and proudly won the Overall Trophy, reflecting their outstanding and consistent performance across multiple events.

    The Readers Fest concluded on a high note, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and reinforcing the importance of reading and libraries in academic life. The event stood as a grand success, strengthening inter-collegiate collaboration and encouraging students to engage deeply with books and knowledge resources.

Vaasippom Nesippom -Book review

 








    The Library of G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Self-Financing Courses) organized a Book Review Programme on Friday, 6th February, at 11.00 a.m. The programme aimed to encourage reading habits, critical thinking, and analytical skills among students.

    Students from the Department of Statistics actively participated in the event. The book reviews were presented by Victoria Annie, Panbumathi, and Priyadharsini, who shared their insights on the selected books. Each student clearly explained the theme, key concepts, and relevance of the books, highlighting how reading enhances subject knowledge and broader understanding.

    The presentations reflected the students’ ability to analyze content, articulate ideas confidently, and connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. The session also promoted interactive discussion among participants, making the programme engaging and informative.

    Overall, the Book Review Programme was a successful academic activity that motivated students to explore library resources and develop a consistent reading culture.
